Space

For inquiry this term we are looking at the planets.  Our Pod are busy making trading cards at the moment.  The front has a picture and the name of the planet and on the back there are at least five facts about that planet.  Included in those five facts is a 'Fun Fact'.  The 'Fun Fact' is something that we found interesting about the planet.
Some are making a few special cards.  These will be highly sort after to make a whole set.  To get these we will need to be able to answer questions to see if we have knowledge on these topics.
It will be interesting to see who gets them.
Some examples of some of our trading cards.

After surveying all classes on Nude Food Day, Rooms 2 and 23 came out as the winners. Both of them only had four wrappers in their lunch boxes in total.  Here they are enjoying their prize of a platter of fresh fresh.

Social Action

Our inquiry topic last term was Zero Waste. Once we finished, we decided that one way we could take action would be to hold a Nude Food Day at Wanaka Primary School. This was held on Thursday, 2 June 2011.
“What is Nude Food?”
Nude Food is bringing a lunch along to school in your lunch box, completely wrapper free.
Why hold Nude Food Day?
This was to encourage less waste in our school environment and hopefully this will also encourage people to begin to use less waste at home as well.
This is a great way to celebrate us all taking responsibility for the health of our planet.
Rooms 2 and 23 both had the least number of wrappers (four in total for each class) and they won a fresh fruit platter each to share among their class. The fresh fruit was donated by Mediterranean Wholesale Market, Wanaka to whom we would like to say thank you very much.
